About Us Alvin Platnick started Platnick Steel & Engineering, Inc. in 1968 with the purpose of serving the region with superior crane systems and structural steel fabrication.  The high standards Mr. Platnick wove into the fabric of the company remains today.  The employees take pride in engineering and manufacturing the best products available anywhere. Our staff is dedicated to the customer.  We all work to assure that each job is done properly.  We understand the importance of the safety we build into all our products.  With all quality assurance programs, errors will happen.  Platnick sees each problem as a chance to shine.  Many manufacturers run from problems, but we have made several lifetime customers just because of the way we handle problems. Located in the foothills of the Appalachians, our 60,000 sf plant is situated on 4 acres, mostly under crane.  We have the facility to handle the largest projects and the room to store materials.  We are close to major highways (I77, I81, I40) and centrally located which helps keep freight costs down.
